Native Prairie Restoration Project
We are embarking on a journey to transform former cattle rangeland into a flourishing Texas Native Grass Prairie. Nestled in the heart of the Post Oak Savannah region, this project is a labor of love dedicated to preserving biodiversity, enhancing soil health, and honoring the natural heritage of Texas.
Our vision is to restore this land to its natural state—resembling the untamed beauty it held 400 years ago when herds of bison roamed freely, grazing on lush native grasses like Little Bluestem, Switchgrass, and Indian Grass. These prairies were not only breathtakingly beautiful but also vital ecosystems, providing food and shelter for countless species while shaping the very character of the Texas landscape.
Through sustainable land management practices, we aim to bring back the diversity and abundance of the prairie as it once was. By removing invasive species, planting native grasses, wildflowers, forbs, and nurturing the soil, we are striving to recreate the rhythms of life that existed before modern agriculture. The land will once again echo the balance of nature, mimicking the grazing cycles of bison to maintain a thriving ecosystem. Ideally we are creating a haven for wildlife ranging from pollinators like bees and butterflies to prairie-dependent birds and mammals.
This restoration effort is about more than ecology; it’s about preserving history and reconnecting with a time when the Texas prairie stretched endlessly under the vast sky, teeming with life.
